At first glance, it’s the burn of January light—cold, gold, and glimmering off the Wrightsville Beach horizon. But look closer: just along the linear seam of sea and sky, a dorsal fin slices forward. This was the moment. Mid-shoot, a pod of dolphins surfaced, and one glided perfectly into the frame. It looks almost unreal—mistaken by some for a shark—but the gentle arc of the fin tells the story.
